First off, I think that publishing pages from Wikipedia in book form is an interesting idea, if for no other reason than it gives the reader something solid to hold, and that something will be always be available when a computer and Internet connection isn't. Besides, it's easier to write notes in the margins of a real book than it is to annotate a live web page.
Where this book fails miserably is in its total lack of illustrations. The publisher claims that they don't include them because they can't verify ownership of the images. When the source material comes from Wikipedia the associated images are clearly tagged with ownership and copyright information, so I have a hard time accepting that claim. It's not that hard to set up pages with images (it's called typesetting, and even MS Word can do an acceptable job of it in the hands of a skilled user), and it's not that hard to list the image credits in the back. Even contacting the rights holders for permission isn't hard to do, and if it's a corporation they will often agree let the image be used at no charge in order to get the free advertising and market exposure.
So, the bottom line here is that you're not buying anything with any real added value, and if you happen to own a duplex capable laser printer, you can download the material from the web and print it yourself. With the images intact.
